  • Fireplaces: How not to burn the house down.

There are many fireplaces in the house. Let's start from the top and work our way down.

    • Level Five (Office): One fireplace in the corner, gas only. At the present time, there is not a log set there, so until further notice, this fireplace is inoperative.
    • Level Four (Living Room): One large fireplace, which is wood burning only. Feel free to use it, bring your own wood. There are fire starter devices in the cabinet below the bar sink in the living room. Please make sure that the damper is open; stick your head in there, preferably before you start burning stuff, to make sure that the damper is open and that you can see up the flue. Fire extinguishers are on the fireplace hearth stone.
    • Level Three (Master Bedroom): One fireplace, gas only. At the present time, there is not a log set there, so until further notice, this fireplace is inoperative.
    • Level Two (Home Theater): One wood burning stove, wood only. At the present time, as we don't use this, it is not connected and is inoperative.
    • Level One (Jacuzzi Gym): One wood burning stove, wood only. This stove is operative, and is useful for heating the Jacuzzi Gym area. However, there are electric baseboard heaters, and a wall mounted heater that will heat this room adequately, on cloudy days. Generally, on sunny days, the room heats up naturally from solar heat.
    • Level One (Nature Bedroom): One fireplace, gas only. At the present time, there is not a log set there, so until further notice, this fireplace is inoperative.

We are in the process of obtaining log sets for the three natural gas fireplaces. Please do not attempt to burn wood in these fireplaces, as trying to do so will probably eventually cause the house to go BOOM.
